Gilmore Grandkids

Every year we do a photo shoot with all the Gilmore grandkids. It's always an adventure!

15 month check up...

Her stats:
Head: 17.75 they said last one was measured wrong cause her head did not shrink.
Weight: 21 lbs (12th percentile)
Height: 31 inches (65th percentile)

Doctor said if she does not put on weight by her 18 month check up we will have to talk about what to do since it is constantly dropping. He said unless I think it is genetics...ha ha...yeah right. She eats really well...she might not want to eat every meal, but when she does she isn't picky and eats a well balanced diet. I think she is just on the go so much she burns it off.

Wild week

Ok, I will post pics soon of the last week, but had to do a quick post to show you how worn out Taylor is! We normally go to the gym by 8:45 on Tuesdays. Taylor woke up around 7 and was back asleep by 7:30ish and she is still asleep! It is 11 o'clock!

some crazy things...

Ok, first of all. Not Taylor related, but check out the below photo. My car actually fits in the garage. For those that have ever seen mine and Travis' garage in the 3 houses and 4 1/2 years of marriage know that this is huge! Travis is still rrganizing, but the goal was today to be able to get my car in and we did! Sorry quality of photos are bad. They are from my phone.

Next, it is crazy how much of a girl Taylor is now and not a baby. I always wondered at what point are they not a baby anymore and I would think she is there! We have been realizing that when you say, "let's go change your diaper," she goes to her room and stands by the changing pad! Then tonight we said, "let's go take a bath," and off she went to the tub. And even more than that-all her toys were outside the tub and she picked each one up and dropped it in the tub so she would have them to play with. And even more than that-she had a book in her hand and I was ready for her to drop it in the water but she didn't...she knew it wasn't a bath toy!

A couple of other fun things she's been doing:

She runs for her teacher Ms. Ashley when I drop her off at daycare.

If she goes in early and I have to stop by and give her more medicine, she doesn't cry when I leave but continues to play. So she must really like school!

When you say, "where's momma? or Dadda?" she points to the right person.

When you say, "where's Taylor?" she pats her belly.

She can tell you where eyes, nose, ears, mouth, belly button, and boobies are (thanks to travis on that last one-she does it on him though luckily and not me). I'm sure there are a few more if I just thought of them. Jill asked her one day where her eyes were and instead of pointing, she opened them real big and got close to her.

She says Uh for "up" when she wants you to hold her or put her on the couch. When you ask her to say the "p" part she says it delayed but won't put the "uh and p" together.

She wanted her duck today and I handed it to her and she said "Tink" which I think was for "Thank you." Typically she says Thank you if you say it first but hasn't got the concept. I think she's now starting to get the concept.

She lays on her belly and swims in the tub. She knows to hold her head up so she doesn't drink water-she learned that from trial and error a week or so ago.

I know what you are thinking..."Taylor doesn't have enough hair to cut!" Not true. Check out that random strands in the front and it's uneven everywhere so Melissa said she could help us out! It was awesome having Melissa cut her hair. Taylor sees Melissa at least 3 times a week at the gym with me so she is very comfortable with her and sat so still! It's not a huge change, but it looks so good!

More joys of parenting...

3 weeks ago Taylor had pink eye and couldn't go to school. Last week, Taylor has swine flu and was home for 2 days. This week it is a monster rash. Check out the crazy photos below. We went to the doctor and this is what we found out: It is a side effect to the amoxicillin that she was on for her ear infection. She is not allergic or it would have come up the first day of the medicine. We were on day 9, so she is just having a side effect. Becky just said it's bad luck. Some kids get it some don't. So the doctor told us that she could go to school. I took her yesterday and then got a call about 30 minutes later saying she had to go home because I didn't have a note saying she wasn't contagious. Ahhh. So I called the doctor and they said it would be awhile before I could come back and get a note. I was suppose to call an hour later to see when I could come get it. So I went and got Taylor and took her home for lunch and nap. Well, she was sooo itchy and not feeling well that we decided she wouldn't make it back at daycare, they would just call again for me to come get her so I stayed home till 5:30 when Travis could take her. She was so swollen and scary looking by then. Travis went to get her medicine and he knows the pharmacist and had her look at Taylor to make sure it was a correct diagnosis. She thought it was. However, when I got home from dance it was even worse and she was so miserable. I was about to panic and decided to call Ashley's aunt Becky. She is a doctor at LR children's hospital ER. She was so sweet and listened to the situation and agreed that she was just having a reaction that it would pass and told me what to watch for. So we had a long night of Taylor staying in our bed so we could watch her. We were up every hour giving her one medicine or another and trying to help her get comfortable. Well, she looks better today. Her face and torso are not near as bad. Her arms and legs are still scary but maybe by tomorrow they will be good!

Kendle's bday party

Saturday we went to Kendle's 4th birthday party! It was at Jump Zone and was so fun for not only the kids but us too! It was a scooby themed party...can you tell?

Just wanted to update everyone that Taylor is doing much better! She has not had fever since Sunday night. Yesterday was a hard day because she had not eaten much and I think she was just weak and achy, but after getting her appetiate back, she did much better today. And tomorrow she gets to go back to daycare! Yay! We survived the swine flu-and it wasn't that bad!

a little bit of bad news...

Friday night, we went out with the Spears and towards the end of the night I remember Melissa saying that Taylor felt warm to her. We felt her, and she was a little warm but not enough to make us think to take her temperature. She does have two new teeth coming in so she normally runs a small fever with that. Then Saturday morning when she woke up she was very grouchy and clingy and kept falling asleep in our arms. We put her in the shower and she even slept pretty much all the way through that! She had a mild temperature, so we gave her some tylenol and let her nap. When she woke up she felt much better and played for most of the day. Right before we went to Clara's house, she took a nap and when she woke up she felt warm so we gave her some motrin. Her cheeks were pretty red and all she wanted to do was sit in mine or Travis' lap most of the night. She wasn't up for much playing. She did however get out to trick or treat as you can read about in the below post. (by the way, I added several posts tonight so scroll down for them all!) Towards the end of the night she even got down and played with the other girls, and Lynn :) When we got ready to pack up to come home she was very warm. We took her temperature and it was around 101. I can't remember exactly. We gave her some tylenol and brought her home. When we got here it was 102.5. We decided to stay up an hour and see if it had gone down. It didn't :( So we set Travis alarm and woke up several times in the night to check on her. She stayed in our bed so we could watch her closely. The highest her temp ever got was 103ish but that was 6 hours after she had the motrin, so we gave her more and it went back down to around 101. This morning we woke to her still having a high fever and went to the Care Express clinic in Walmart. They advised us to go the the ER because they had a 2 hour wait and they couldn't see her anyway if her fever was that high. We checked it in the car and it was only 101 so we decided to go to the WellQuest clinic and wait for them to open at noon. After standing outside in line for over 30 minutes, we got in and were 2nd in line! FINALLY, we get to see a doc. The nurse came in and took her temp and it was 103.2 so she immediately had another nurse bring in some motrin. They swabbed her and went to get results. The doc comes in and the verdict is : SWINE FLU! are you kidding? ahhhhhh. oh, and an ear infection! Double whammy! So she coaches us on what to do and what to watch for and we head off to the pharmacy for her prescription. What a terrible surprise...I hate that we were out and around other kids/friends last night and she was sick. I can't believe I thought it was just teeth. how are you suppose to tell the difference? So Taylor is home for the week, and so is Travis. His manager advised him to stay home since you are contagious before you have symptoms. I however am lucky and get to carry on with my normal life :) So glad I'm not going to be trapped at home. Taylor went down for a nap around 3 and woke up about 6 in a pool of sweat! Her fever broke! The doctor gave her children's motrin instead of infants and it made a huge difference! I'm so glad that worked! She actually was crankiest after her fever broke tonight, but I think she is just achy because she has not eaten hardly at all the last 2 days and didn't drink much either. She was starting to get very dehydrated so Travis opted to put her juice/pedialyte in a syringe and get her to take it that way. Poor thing, everytime she took a sip you could hear her stomach rumble! She was so empty! So I made her a pizza. It is probably her favorite food so I figured if she would eat anything at all it would be pizza, and it worked! She ate several bites and even drank some juice on her own! I hope we are on the way to recovery!

Funny note: We joked about monogramming Flu across her halloween outfit-we had NO idea she actually had swine flu!

Happy Halloween

We had a fabulous Halloween! Last year Taylor was so small that it wasn't super exciting, but this year-4 parties and lots of fun!

First, on Friday afternoon, was her school party. Pretty much they just got dressed up and had snacks. It was hilarious to watch them stare at each other. I don't think Taylor had any idea that she was dressed as a pig!

Her favorite place at the party was on the table playing in this candy. She did walk around some and trick-or-treat. Mainly she would just take a piece then try to exchange it for a piece at the next station. After she gathered up quite a few, she just wanted to sit down and play with them...

Halloween morning we woke up and made cookies for the neighborhood party and Dadda and Taylor carved a pumpkin.

We made it look like her...4 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth...can you see the resemblance?

At noon, we were off to the neighborhood party. Taylor seemed to enjoy running around with some of the bigger kids while we met some of our neighbors.

Last night we went to Clara's house for a Halloween/Razorback bash!

Taylor was running a little bit of fever when we got there (we thought it was because she has 2 new teeth coming in) so she was pretty clingy to us.

Taylor really likes Kit Kats I think. I gave her a couple of bites of one over the day and she seemed to enjoy them. She didn't have much of an appetite so I figured her eating something was better than nothing!
